The U.S. Department of Commerce introduced the IPEF Upskilling Initiative on September 8, 2022, with a primary focus on empowering women and girls. This initiative aligns with the goals of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF), aiming to foster sustainable and inclusive economic growth and enhance competitiveness in the region. Over the next decade, the Initiative aims to provide 7 million or more digital-based training and education opportunities to women and girls in the emerging economies and middle-income partners of the IPEF. These partners currently include Brunei, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
